Morals of scale

Our morals change as the scale changes.  For example as an individual it is immoral to kill, but on a collective scale of a nation it is OK to kill in war or execution.  As the scale increases the moral imperitive becomes more slack.  Now let's go the other way. As an individual it is immoral to kill but if you step on an ant hill you have not done anything immoral ( unless you are a Jainist). But from the point of view of the ants you are a genocidal murderer, a destroyer of worlds.  What obviously seems wrong at one scale becomes mundane at a larger scale.

What makes the Dark side so evil

Thinking about 14 yr old elected Queens got me thinking about proper governance of the Star Wars Universe.  Is the dark side so dark, really.  Yea sure they blew up a planet, but you can't make an omelet without making a few million lives cry out and then be silenced.  Come on they are trying to run a galaxy here.  And a modern Galaxy I might add.   Compared to the USA the Empire doesn't really seem all that bad.  They have brought order to a chaotic universe and people like that. Besides what did the rebellion have to offer, a return to feudal rule; Elected Queens and tribal Wookie warlords.  Oh yea that's just great for commerce.  Sure the Emporer is a little over dramatic, but I lived through Ronald Reagan and George Bush and life isn't so bad. The Emporer is a drama queen and his chief of galactic security is a mystic bad ass, well How else are you going to run this fucking galaxy. 14 year old queens, backward tribal groups like Ewoks or Gungan.  Yea these are the groups I want running my world.  So actually George lucas has us rooting for the wrong side.  The side of Monarchy.  Ok neither side is very good but you can't run a galaxy with kid gloves and at least the Empire is efficient. Luke should have joined his father and defeated the Emporer and then as father and son made a better Galaxy, the warm and cuddly Luke and the cold and efficient Vadar.

Natalie Portman's Ass

I was just looking at Natalie Portman's ass in the movie, "Your Highness". The movie sucks. For a comedy I didn't laugh ( even on the inside)  But natalie Portman has a beautiful ass.  And that almost made up for having wasted 45 minutes of my life on this movie.  But it got me thinking about how George Lucas made a bunch of mistakes on the prequels  but one of them was not  choosing Natalie Portman.  But enough about Natalie Portman's beautiful ass.  I was thinking actually more of her character, Queen Amedalia.  Now apparently this position of Queen is an elected  position. Yea they elected a 14 year old. Right George  even in an infinite galaxy of possibilities that seems hard to believe.
